Record whole-building energy and water use in Energy Star Portfolio Manager and report it to the city each year.
- Who it applies to
- Commercial, institutional and multifamily residential buildings of 50,000 square feet or more. Municipal buildings report by December 31.
- If you miss it
- Fines assessed by the Building Energy Improvement Board for buildings that fail to report.

Building Energy Performance Standard
In effect
The top 65% of energy users in each building type must cut energy use to meet the standard. Qualified affordable housing and houses of worship have until May 4, 2027 for the current cycle.

- If you miss it
- Fines assessed by the Building Energy Improvement Board for buildings that miss the standard.
